Having reached the lowest point in her life some 15 years ago, Janine embarked on a spiritual journey that led her to firstly becoming a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and then a Reiki Master. Janine trained for nearly 4 years under the excellent guidance of Jeanette Cassels an accomplished British Wheel of Yoga Diploma Tutor and has now been teaching yoga for the past 17 years.

In 2006 Janine was introduced to Reiki. She was trained for 3 years under the excellent guidance of renowned international Reiki Master Chris Parkes, co-founder of the Reiki School. As well as being a Reiki Practitioner, Janine is also a Reiki Teacher. She teaches and works with Reiki at the highest possible level and ensures that everyone she teaches is given the highest standard of teaching.

In 2010 Janine met Derek Thorne an exceptional and fluent meditation teacher who leads and directs YogaLiving, a well-established spiritual organisation focused on Self-realisation within ordinary life. Janine’s interest and practice of self-realisation meditation has deepened profoundly since meeting Derek and she now incorporates meditation into all her classes and daily life.

YOGA IN MY LIFE
Janine_head_b&w“I was 22 years old when I attended my first Yoga class. I came out of that class feeling ‘holy’, although at that time I wasn’t at all sure what I meant by that! Looking back, what I should have said was that I felt ‘whole’. I always enjoyed the Yoga classes and would always come out with a feeling of well-being, but at that time I still looked upon yoga as simply a form of exercise which helped me to de-stress and feel calm. However, as often happens, life got in the way, yoga got put on the back-burner and it wasn’t long before I started to slide down a very steep hill! I had entered a phase in my life when I not only lost Yoga but I also lost my way! Life’s challenges grew out of all proportion, and it wasn’t long before I hit the bottom of that steep hill with a great thud! I had reached the point where there was ‘no point’; I was simply a body with ‘no soul’! I found myself listening to a doctor telling me that anti-depressants might be an option, and it was at that very moment that I knew I had to take responsibility for myself, I had to ‘rise up’ and I knew anti-depressants were not the answer for me. It was then that Yoga came to mind.

The day I joined Debbie’s class my life changed. The class wasn’t just about exercising and de-stressing it was about ‘life’ itself, she was a truly inspirational teacher. Over the following months all the jumbled thoughts I had about life started to unravel and my negativity soon faded into the distance as at long last I felt able to begin to regain control of my life. It was about 6 months later that Debbie approached me after class one evening. “Have you ever thought about teaching Yoga?” she asked. I remember my reply. “You must be joking; I’m not nearly good enough to do anything like that. I can hardly touch my toes!” Debbie laughed, “Yoga’s not about tying yourself up in pretzel shapes. Sure we do postures and breathing exercises but ultimately Yoga helps us learn to take control of our lives.” All that seems a long time ago now. I’m now a qualified British Wheel Of Yoga teacher and have been teaching for some 17 years.”

In 2010 I attended a Silent Retreat in Glastonbury led by Derek Thorne an exceptional teacher of Self-Relisation Meditation and an excellent communicator of the teachings of Ramana Maharshi. From that moment my interest in meditation became profound and with the constant guidance of Derek I now incorporate the teachings into my daily life. Derek has been a stabilizing influence in my life, a rock, and has taught me how to marry my spiritual life with all aspects of my life. I now incorporate meditation into all my classes. In my opinion the yoga postures alone do not bring the peace we are seeking. The greatest gift we can give to the world  is to find peace within ourselves. This is the pupose of meditation.

Janine’s classes are suitable for all ages and abilities including beginners and the less flexible. Each class consists of Mindful Body & Breath Work, Relaxation and Meditation.

REIKI IN MY LIFE
“Although yoga was the first step in my transformation and continues to bring numerous benefits to myself and my students there is something else that is also helping me to transform my life and that is Reiki. Reiki came into my life quite unexpectedly some 11 years ago and from the moment I completed my first Reiki 1 course I knew Reiki was going to be an integral part of my life.

Reiki has become a daily guide for me, improving every aspect of my life. As well as increasing my inner strength and confidence, Reiki has helped me to improve my relationships and given me greater understanding and compassion for all life. It has given me the courage to face up to all of life’s challenges and the determination to follow a path that I know is right for me. The life of struggle and strife that I once believed was my lot has faded into a distant memory and my life has been transformed to one of acceptance, happiness and joy.

I teach and practice the original most powerful Usui system of Reiki healing. My courses are informal, small and friendly so that all the students are guaranteed personal attention and support together with high quality training. The courses are held in Crowthorne, Berkshire.
